AT&T launches enterprise apps initiative

AT&T (NYSE:T) announced the launch of Advanced Enterprise Mobility Solutions, a new group within its Business Solutions created to accelerate the delivery of mobile applications and services targeting companies, government bodies and organizations worldwide. Designed to complement the operator’s consumer-focused Emerging Devices Organization, the Advanced Enterprise Mobility Solutions unit will work with developers and third-party providers to create and deliver network and cloud-based applications optimized for industries including manufacturing, financial services, consumer packaged goods, retail, construction, transportation, government education and healthcare. Michael Antieri, a 31-year AT&T veteran, will head the effort.

AT&T notes that over the last two years it has seen a 60 percent increase in business subscribers using integrated devices. Research firm IDC reports the U.S. now boasts the world’s highest percent of mobile workers, a segment expected to grow to 75 percent of the nation’s workforce by 2013.
